The actress, Djennie Laguerre born in Haiti immigrated to Canada at the age of four. Since then, she has charmed audiences on stage and on screen with her talents as an actress, dancer and storyteller. She enriched her artistic skills by studying at De La Salle High School (Visual Arts and Theater Concentration) and at the University of Ottawa (theatre and French literature). But what really solidified her professional acting and storytelling career was her two-year stint at the Stella Adler Acting Conservatory in New York. After graduating, Djennie put into practice what she learned by performing in small theaters in popular productions in Harlem and Manhattan. After September 11, it was in Canada that his professional career took off. Specifically in Toronto. Being a bilingual and versatile artist, she works a lot:
Theater actress : Three years of touring with Grimm Grimm, a children’s production from French Theater of Toronto (TFT); Interpreter Awa in Toronto Urban Tales ; Cheek Rendezvous with Home (solo show), at the SummerWorks Festival as well as its French version, Rendez-vous lakay, which is presented at the French Theater of Toronto, at the Nomadic Storytelling Festival at the NAC (Ottawa 2013) and at the The Wolf of the Fountain Festival ( 2014); several roles in The Zinspired and Les Zinspirés 3D (productions for teens) at TFT; She plays with great panache the role of Toinette in the imaginary patient of Molière and Celeste in Hope/Espwa at TFT; she has had many successes in English, particularly in Seventeen Anonymous Women (Infinit heatre (2007) in Montreal and in Ground Sister, a production of Factory theater (2012).

On television: Djennie can be seen on the small screen in Flashpoint (CTV television, 2011), Degrassi the Next Generation and in MINITFO where she plays the role of Madame Bonheur. She also plays in many commercials: (Leon’s, BMO, West Jet, Subway, Interact) .
As an author : She presents her solo show (written and performed by her) See you lakay at the TFT (December 2009) and at MAY in Montreal (2010), at Nomadic Storytelling Festival at the NAC (Ottawa 2013) and The Wolf of the Fountain Festival ( 2014). The English version Rendezvous with Home wins *the Spotlight Performance Award at the “SummerWorks 2008” Theater Festival she was nominated* Dora for ‘Outstanding Performance- Ensemble’ for Les Zinspirés (2012), ‘Outstanding Performance by an Individual and for ‘Outstanding Performance by Ensemble’ for Les ZINSPIRÉS 3D (2014) a young audience production by TFT.
Future: Djennie is part of the collective, Les Héritières de Toto B . The three writers wrote and acted in their creation, Espoir/Espwa (Théâtre Français de Toronto). This production of the play was so successful that a tour is in the works. Currently Djennie is writing Rendez-Vous lakay deux . In the first Rendez-vous…, the spectators are transported to a funeral in Haiti in the second the invitation is to a wedding.
Artist in Education for the Ontario Arts Council (11 years, dance and theatrical movement) and 2 years as a Theatrical creation teacher at YPT (Young People’s Theatre), Djennie is proud to create with young people works on the themes of community, anti-violence, hope and love.

Inspired in real life by her role as a mother, Djennie toured schools with her shows Contes Afro-haïtiens (2009). She is preparing a new show “Madame Bonne Aventure!” (School tour 2017-18). While waiting for her to come to your school, your children can laugh, dance, sing and learn with Madame Bonheur at MiniTFO on the various TFO platforms, including YouTube.

The charming Djennie Laguerre, ( aka Mme Bonheur from MiniTFO/TVO Kids ) is a fantastic storyteller. Her show is ideal for schools, community events and birthday parties.
Using the techniques of ancestral oral tradition, Djennie transports her audience into the magical and wonderful world of storytelling.

This intimate show is suitable for audiences of all ages. It can be presented in front of a crowd of up to 100 spectators.
WORKSHOPS
Djennie Laguerre offers wonderful workshops that support the teaching of the Ontario Elementary Curriculum very well. They are therefore highly recommended for teachers in French schools and for those in French as a second language (FSL) programs.
I read, you read, we read!
Let the storyteller read to your students and watch them flourish in French. She will read, play and teach children stories, fables, nursery rhymes, poems and songs from all over the French-speaking world. You can also suggest a book.
A great activity for K-4 students lasts 40 minutes and costs $75 + tax.
I dance, you dance, we dance!
Choose one, two or even three classes from your school and offer them 10 to 15 hours of dance lessons with Djennie. By the end of the class, they will have wonderful Afro-Caribbean choreography that they can perform at your next school performance or community event.
