La vraie raison pour laquelle il a fallu plus de deux mois pour arrêter Greg McMichael et Travis McMichael pour avoir tué Ahmaud Arbery est que le procureur de district Jackie Johnson ne le permettrait pas.

Deux commissaires du comté de Glynn ont sonné l’alarme au bureau de DA Johnson après que le bloc soit devenu chaud.

Le commissaire Allen Booker, qui s’est entretenu avec la police du comté de Glynn, a déclaré à l’AJC :

La police sur les lieux est allée vers elle, disant qu’ils étaient prêts à les arrêter tous les deux. C’étaient les policiers présents sur les lieux qui avaient mené l’enquête.

Le commissaire Peter Murphy a doublé sa déclaration en disant que le PD du comté de Glynn lui avait dit que les agents sur les lieux de la fusillade du 23 février avaient conclu qu’ils avaient des raisons probables de procéder à une arrestation et avaient contacté le bureau de Johnson pour les informer de la décision.

“On leur a dit de ne pas procéder à une arrestation”, a déclaré Murphy.

The case was then handed over to Waycross Judicial Circuit District Attorney George Barnhill, who also told Glynn County PD he did not see probable cause to charge the McMichaels. The Georgia Bureau of Investigations snatched up the case after a video of the killing began circulating online and there was a groundswell of outrage.

36 hours after the GBI opened a state investigation, both Travis and his daddy, Greg, were doing a perp walk.

They have been charged with murder and aggravated assault.

GBI Director Vic Reynolds said:

Probable cause was clear to our agents pretty quickly. I’m very comfortable in telling you there’s more than sufficient probable cause in charging felony murder.
The video was already out, we saw it, we reviewed the rest of the file and we made an arrest.
Every stone will be turned over, I promise you.

He also noted, “We’re investigating everyone involved in the case, including the individual who shot the video.”

Travis McMichael and Greg McMichael have been denied bond, but this case is far from over.
