The Foundation of Canadian-Haitian doctors (FMCH) was born on November 2, 2004, under the mandate of Dr. Mathurin, president of the AMHE, who had brought together from the beginning of his mandate, Doctors Lys Montas, Elizabeth Rousseau, Serge Rousseau , Lionel Prosper as vice-president of the AMHE, Marc Joubert, Marie-Hélène Lindor, with the aim of replacing the former ”Oeuvre d’entraide de l’AMHE” which had not been active for some time years already.

It was therefore created by the Association of Haitian Doctors Abroad (AMHE), which later became the Haitian Medical Association Abroad (AMHE).

The mission of the Foundation was, when it was created:

  1. Assistance to the Haitian community in Montreal
  2. Establishment of free health and screening clinics for various diseases
  3. Support for student activities in the field of health
  4. Granting of scholarships to young people who excel in sport and academia
  5. Financial assistance to works dedicated to the education, food and leisure of destitute young people in the mother country.

This mission was updated in 2021.

In order to achieve its mission, the FMCH has joined the Association Médicale Haïtienne à l’Étranger (AMHE) and several other community organizations.
